CLCF Cranston League For Cranston's Future
CLCF is a community driven nonprofit sports organization providing the youth of Cranston Rhode Island the opportunity to learn and play in a multitude of sports. CLCF has been heralded on the national level as being one of the most varied and largest sports organizations in the country. The original building was built in 1974 over the last 5 decades the facility was showing its age, after weathering time and storm surge the board of directors knew they needed to modernize the facility.
The addition to the building includes a covered entry, large gathering / welcoming space, storage rooms, office space as well as accessible access thru out the facility including new restrooms. The renovation to the existing facility included a new gymnasium floor, electrical services, heating services as well as dry-flood proofing the facility for potential future storm surges from the river.

Cantilevered Entry
The new entry sequence begins under a cantilevered roof plane. This feature provides a welcoming clear point of entry, protection from weather throughout the year as well as a place to gather before entering the facility or after an event.
Design Flexibility
From the start of the project, fundraising and community engagement were critical to the success of the project. A large portion of the labor and materials of the project were donated by local business and community members. The design was developed to be flexible in order to accommodate material changes throughout the construction process. The final result is true product of community engagement.
