A local business owner and his wife approached our office to design an upscale restaurant on the outskirts of the small town of Thompson Connecticut. The couple have traveled the world and celebrated fine cuisine with a passion. Sharing stories of restaurants in New York they frequented and how the town was lacking such an environment. The strong belief they would find great success matched with a striking piece of property they had already acquired set the project in motion.

The design process started with the concept of what might have existed on the property, an old farm structure, a barn. Developing the man dinging room to be beneath a modern timber designed truss formed the central volume of project. This allowed the interior space to start to inform the exterior rather trying to conform to a preconceived esthetic or style.
The variety of volumes allowed the development of multiple dining experiences , which in turn created different touch points to connect to the community which lead to the success of this project
